Theseus Recognized

The screenplay for Theseus has been recognized by the 2013 Bucks Fever Film Festival in Doylestown, Pa. The film was submitted to both the film and screenplay contests, but although it did not fit into festival programming judges were sure to distinguish the script. The festival was founded in 1999 to promote the arts in the Bucks County region of Greater Philadelphia.
The script, only two full pages in length, represented a gamble to not only test the narrative power of the short film medium, but was also specifically designed to convey an artistic message with only absolutely necessary plot and dialogue. Consisting of only one brief exchange of lines between the protagonist and his mother, these lines are only heard off-screen as the film is driven by action and symbolism in the place of a more theatrical approach to expounding a narrative through heavy dialogue. In this story the plot isn't heard - it is seen.
